100 Things...

Bonanza Jellybean has a list of 100 Things about her. I felt the need to copy her. I was also really bored and didn't think this would take many days. I was wrong. So maybe you'll learn something about me, or maybe you'll think I'm a crack-head. Either way, enjoy...

100 things about me in no particular order:

100. The only vegetables I don’t like are cooked peas and squash. Everything else is fair game. I do like raw peas.

99. I have lived with/had 20 pets in my lifetime not including fish. The body count: 2 horses, 1 bird, 10 cats and 7 dogs.

98. I am deathly allergic to seafood (shrimp mostly) and sulfur dioxide preservatives (used in dried fruit). The hives are scary and gynormous.

97. My shoe size varies wildly from a 4 to a 6.5. But my 2 feet are 2 different sizes as I learned when I had to buy 2 pairs of toe shoes when I was a ballerina. Which were handy cos then I only had to buy shoes once a year.

96. I cry at least once a week.

95. I like my job but hate my location. I like my co-workers but hate my location.

94. My longest lasting relationship with a man is 9 months. I haven’t had a relationship last more than 2 months since I was 21, but I have only had one relationship in the last 5 years. I hate the word relationship.

93. I was a cheerleader from 6th grade through my sophomore year of high school. I was captain in the 8th grade.

92. I put on a horse for their first time at least 3 girls who grew up to be world champion horse women. One is now a professional horse trainer.

91. I love cheese and sausage with crackers. It is the perfect snack.

90. My longest lasting friends I have known since I was 15 or 16: Nick, Amanda and Khrysten all first met me right around then. Madeline has known me since I was 15.

89. There is almost nothing I won’t try at least once. If I couldn’t get arrested or punished for my actions there is even less I wouldn’t do at least once.

88. I talk a lot, but am nearly incapable of actually expressing or talking about my emotions and feelings. Sometimes this makes me feel like people think I am empty.

87. I am a grown-up tomboy. I’d much prefer to hang with the boys.

86. I was a ballerina for 13 years. I have broken toes, ugly feet, bad knees and bad hips to show for it. But I can still arabesque beautifully.

85. I can live off of Pepsi, Camel Turkish Silver (or Ultra Light) cigs and granola bars. I prefer not to.

84. I treat my cats as if they were tiny furry children. They have more toys and furniture and treats than any 2 cats could every actually need. I feel even more like they are my babies cos I hand reared them when their mother abandoned them; she was later killed by a neighbor.

83. I am a romantic at heart, I just don’t believe that sort of stuff could happen to me. It happens to other people, but not me.

82. My apartment is often cluttered, but is never actually dirty. I scrub my floors at least twice a month and would bleach my counters daily if I used them that much.

81. I love fire, but my biggest fear is my house burning down. I love meat but I am terrified to handle raw meat due to the germs. This is also why I fear sushi.

80. I have never been turned down for a job.

79. I prefer salty snacks to sweet snacks. I prefer salty and spicy snacks over pretty much anything else.

78. A world without movies or TV shows is a world I would have a tough time living in. I love a good story and I love to watch it play out.

77. I have an addictive personality. I also have a few things I am obsessive compulsive about.

76. I am most active and driven to do things at night. I am not a morning person, although the demonic morning personality that so frightened people as a teenager has now moved on to greener pastures.

75. I do not wear a watch. My mother constantly buys them for me, but I refuse to wear them. I hate the idea of being that attached to time.

74. I graduated with Honors from Arrowhead High School, High Honors from the University of Wisconsin Waukesha, Magna Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and I have never attended a graduation ceremony.

73. I got my first tattoo in the 6th grade. It was done with a stick pin and India ink. It was a heart on my left wrist. It faded out pretty quickly (it was done pretty poorly), what didn’t fade I scraped off with a nail file. There is no scar.

72. I have never touched the actual ocean. I have flown over it, and seen the Chesapeake Bay but I have never touched or seen up close the actual ocean.

71. I was made in Canada. Honestly. I should have a maple leaf stamped on my ass.

70. I love old school soul and R&B (back when it was called doo-wop or, gasp, rock n roll). If it’s from 1955-1975 I probably love it. I also love disco.

69. My favorite colors in order are: Blue (baby blue), Black, Green (lime green), Red, Purple. My least favorite colors in order are: Orange, White, Brown, Yellow and Pink.

68. I am allergic to gold, but that’s good cos I prefer silver.

67. I wish I could draw or paint well. I have these visions in my head but no way to actually put them on paper. Every time I try to get them out it is never near to what I visualize in my head.

66. If I was better at math I would have been a doctor.

65. I tried to quit a job once, but they wouldn’t let me. 2 years later they fired me. I knew it was my only way out of the job.

64. I can fix other people’s problems, but I am a world class failure at even identifying my own.

63. I love the grocery store.

62. If I could I would purchase every pair of shoes that actually fit me, just cos I might need them someday, and I have odd feet.

61. I love wearing skirts and dresses but always feel overdressed.

60. I miss going to the ballet and to plays. I also love the symphony.

59. My favorite perfume in perfume history is Estee Lauder’s Beyond Paradise.

58. The translation of my name is “The Dark Devourer” per ancient Greece and Egypt.

57. I love peppermint flavored anything.

56. I don’t get the Beatles, Elvis or U2.

55. My most commonly used assumed name is Sasha. I haven’t used it in ages.

54. I love foreign food! German, Mexican and Mediterranean/Middle Eastern top my list.

53. I love to cook for others, but I rarely get a chance. Cooking for one is not satisfying.

52. I don’t think I deserve to be loved. I don’t know why I feel that way, but I often do.

51. I love to write, but often don’t because I have never finished a story. I have one with over 100,000 words and 20 + chapters and I have no idea how to end it.

50. Some of my favorite movies are silent, black and white, are direct to video or are considered B or C class.

49. I can knit, crochet, cross-stitch, needle point and sew. I find the repetition of it calming. I can also create macramé, bead and knot friendship bracelets like a maniac.

48. I can talk for hours about absolutely nothing. I can also maintain about 4 simultaneous conversations about random topics with various people.

47. At last check my IQ was 139, 29 points higher than the smartest average American.

46. I collect horses because I am scared I will never be able to afford them again. Then again I am scared that even if I can afford them that I will be too chicken-shit to ride them.

45. I have been in real actual love twice. I blew it once, and once it ended due to circumstances out of our control.

44. I was a Girl Scout through my sophomore year of high school. Once you get to the 8th grade you get to go camping with the boys, which is nothing but trouble. I earned my Girl Scout gold and silver awards, which are a pretty hard to get, and got fingered for the first time (by a boy sicko!) at GS/BS camp. Just goes to show what you can learn at camp!

43. I used to compulsively lie about stupid little things, I don’t anymore.

42. I started reading when I was 3, when I was in the 2nd grade they put me in the 7th grade reading classes cos I was bored in my own. From the 3rd-8th grades they didn’t know what to do with me so they just kept sticking me with longer and longer books. I read The Hobbit in under a week. I finished the Battle of the Books list in under a month.

41. I love archery.

40. I own a $350 hand made corset. I have worn it in public once. I love corsetry.

39. When I was a child I always felt I was born during the wrong time in history. I still sometimes feel that way, displaced in time.

38. My chocolate chip cookies are the saddest things you will ever see. I can make a soufflé but I cannot for the life of me make a decent looking (they always taste great) chocolate chip cookie.

37. Halloween is my favorite holiday because I love the idea of being someone else.

36. I take Wellbutrin not because I am depressed but because I was so anxious about everything and worried so much about everything that I made myself depressed. I was worried about Afghani women and their burqas long before Sept. 11th.

35. I enjoy natural disasters; I see it as Mother Nature taking one back.

34. I wish I could only buy organic and non-genetically modified food. Cos I’m pretty positive it’s the processed overly preserved food we eat that is making us sick not some other outside force.

33. I believe in aliens; I can’t believe that in the whole universe that we are alone, it’s statistically impossible.

32. I love quantum theory, string theory and chaos theory. Physics is Phun!

31. I love video games. I could play the Dance Dance Revolution until I died. I also love the first Buffy game (for X-Box) it’s the best!

30. Joss Whedon is my master. I will see anything he touches. He is a storytelling genius who expects more from his audience than a few hours of them drooling in the seat. I'm a fan-gurl like that.

29. I haven’t had a hair cut in over a year, nor have my locks been dyed. This is the first time since the 5th grade that I have gotten to see my natural color. I now remember why I dyed it for all those years.

28. I love to smoke. I love the ritual of it, and I’m not a quitter, so I’m not stopping anytime soon.

27. I am 100% German, and I am very damn proud of it.

26. My favorite band is Depeche Mode, but it’s the lyrics not necessarily the music. Martin Gore is pretty damn brilliant. I've spent $600 to see them in Vegas by myself.

25. Name an illicit substance, I’ve probably done it on purpose or accident, and I probably liked it. I had extra brain cells, they needed to die.

24. I have no regrets.

23. I’ve been raped, in physically abusive relationships, in emotionally abusive relationships and I still trust men.

22. I love monkeys! I have a monkey toy collection, but it is put away right now.

21. I never wanted to go to college, I did at the threat of being kicked out of the house on my ass at 18. I wanted to be a hair colorist. If I had done that I’d be making way more money and working where ever the fuck I wanted. Still, no regrets, cos I learned that I love to learn useless information that will have no bearing on actual life except in anecdotes.

20. Horse racing and football are my favorite sports. If I lived closer to Off Track Betting I would be in big trouble (although possibly not broke, I have a good eye for a winner)

19. I’m a raging control freak, but I am sexually submissive. I hate hurting people, but I love pain.

18. I’ve been to the doctor (or emergency room) on more than 2 occasions and heard the following phrase “I’ve never seen anything like this before” I have also heard “Call the medical college,” and “we don’t know what’s wrong with you.”

17. I have only once considered myself a victim. It is one of the scariest self-admissions I have ever made, and one I don’t plan to make again.

16. I’m a published poet.

15. I am always cold.

14. If I could not write ‘to do’ and ‘to get’ lists I would be lost.

13. I hate the holidays.

12. I envy people with large families, and I hate the ones who don’t appreciate them.

11. At one point there was 5 generations of Schmid women alive: my great grandmother, my grandmother, my mom, myself and my cousin’s daughter.

10. I love stained glass Tiffany style lamps and chaise lounges.

9. I’ve had the cancer scare, it was not fun. It did not inspire me to live a healthier lifestyle.

8. I use laughter to cover everything inside me that I think people will hate or that is ugly.

7. I’ve made people question their sexuality.

6. I’m only misanthropic because I care too much and people always disappoint me.

5. I never want to be ‘that girl.’ You know who I’m talking about, the nagging, soul sucking, vapid, demanding, satan girl.

4. I wonder how old I will be before I stop calling myself a girl and start considering myself a woman.

3. I am a repository of other people’s secrets, if anyone I knew wanted to be president they’d have to pay me off first, or kill me.

2. I can handle an AK-47, and I’m a straight shot with a rifle. Shotgun or handgun? Not so much.

1. I swear like a sailor. Some of my favorite words are cunt and motherfucker.

Wow. Those were way cool, some I totally identified with, and some, not so much. But all were facinating. Some day, when I start doing it again, I'll make you a sock monkey. then maybe you'll bring out your collection again. You wouldn't have mentioned it if it didn't make you smile.

My name is Tricia Hurley and i would like to show you my personal experience with Wellbutrin.

I am 54 years old. Have been on Wellbutrin for 1 year now. Helps with depression. No weight gain like with Zoloft or decreased libido like with Prozac. I do think Prozac worked better and the only reason I went off it was my husband complained about that libido thing.

I have experienced some of these side effects -
Involuntary jerks of hands and legs. Feels like when you're about to fall asleep and suddenly jerk awake, but this is in the daytime. Often feel like adrenaline is flooding my stomach.

I hope this information will be useful to others,
Tricia Hurley
